Into Naugle's Campaign The Sentinel calls Jim Naugle "the self-styled anti-big development candidate" and says he "tells audiences he won't take money from lobbyists." The paper goes on to report: "What Naugle doesn't say is that he has no problem taking money from the clients of the lobbyists." In other words, he gets his cash straight from the lobbyists' bosses! [View original clippings] No wonder he makes his reports so hard to read. [View example] And despite his image, Naugle voted in favor of many big high-rise projects. [View list] THANKS LARGELY TO $250 DONATIONS, Naugle raised more than double Tim's total as of Dec. 31. SEE CHART. Incredibly, Naugle first ran for mayor with a $25 limit and "promised 'ethical reforms' like contribution limits if he worn," according to a Feb. 1, 2003 story by Brittany Wallman in the Sun-Sentinel, Naugle "dropped his vow" to the voters, Wallman reports. Tim Smith is the Commissioner who pushed for and won the current $250 limit. Here are actual images from Naugle's recent campaign fiinance reports showing that he did indeed take fat contributions from the big-money developers and their associates.
