An important message about
development
Tim Smith wants the city's inevitable growth
to be handled responsibly, and believes the concerns and wishes
of our neighborhoods deserve the utmost attention and consideration.
That's why he successfully proposed a building moratorium on
the Beach -- he wanted the city to avoid stupid mistakes that
would adversely affect our homeowners for decades.
Naugle, on the other hand, postures as
anti-developer and anti-lobbyist while voting for many developer-lobbyist
projects (see chart). He has never proposed a building moratorium,
and the city codes that make it so difficult to legally stop
high-rise projects were put into place on his watch.
Did Tim Smith vote in favor of these projects?
Yes, he did ... he has never claimed otherwise. But the vast
majority of projects that were approved by Tim were also approved
by Naugle.
Now the voters must decide whether they
want an active mayor who manages and controls development to
the fullest extent possible (Tim), or the same mayor who has
presided over the greatest increase in high-rise development
in the history of Fort Lauderdale (Naugle).
We need a new approach; the old one isn't
working.
Tim Smith for Mayor.
